Prayers for the Dead

In this moment of sorrow
The Lord is in our midst
And comforts us with His word;
Blessed are the sorrowful; they shall be consoled.

Let us pray:
Loving and merciful God, we entrust our brother / sister to your mercy. You loved him / her greatly in this life; now that he/she is freed from all its cares, give him/her happiness and peace forever. The old order has passed away: welcome him/her now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus, Your Son, and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.

AMEN (Response )

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 23:44-46
It was now midday, and darkness came over the whole land until mid afternoon with an eclipse of the sun. the curtain in the sanctuary was torn in two. Jesus uttered a loud cry and said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” After he said this, He expired.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Saints of God, come to his/her aid! Come to meet him/her, angels of the Lord!

Holy Mary, Mother of God --------------------------  pray for him/her
Saint Joseph ---------------------------------------------pray for him/her
Saint Peter and Saint Paul -----------------------------pray for him/her

God of mercy,  hear our prayers and be merciful to your son/ daughter, ( mention name), whom you have called from this life. Welcome him/her into the company of Your saints, In the kingdom of light and peace.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
AMEN. (Response )

Let us pray for the coming of the kingdom as Jesus taught us: OUR FATHER...

Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, You willingly gave Yourself up to death so that all people might be saved and pass from death into new life. Listen to our prayers, look with love into new life. Listen to our prayers, look with love on Your people who mourn and pray for their brother/sister, (MENTION NAME). lord Jesus, holy and compassionate: forgive (MENTION NAME) his/her sins. By dying You opened the gates of life for those who believe in You: do not let our brother/sister be parted from You, but by Your glorious power give him/her light, joy and peace in heaven where You live forever and ever.

AMEN. (response)

Prayers for the Dying

We shall see God as He really is – 1 John 3:2

Job said:
Oh, would that my words were written down! Would that they were inscribed in a record: That with an iron chisel and with lead. They were cut in the rock forever.

But as for me, I know that my Vindicator lives, and that He will at last stand forth upon the dust; Whom I myself shall see: my own eyes, not another’s, shall behold Him. And from my flesh I shall see God; my inmost being is consumed with longing.

The word of the Lord.

Holy Mary, Mother of God --------------------------  pray for him/her
Holy angels of God -----------------------------------  pray for him/her
Saint John the Baptist  ---------------------------------pray for him/her
Saint Joseph ---------------------------------------------pray for him/her
Saint Peter and Saint Paul -----------------------------pray for him/her
Other saints… ------------------------------------------ pray for him/her
All holy men and women ----------------------------  pray for him/her

Go forth, Christian soul, from this world in the name of the God the Almighty Father, Who created you, in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, Who suffered for you, in the name of the Holy Spirit. Who was poured out upon you, go forth, faithful Christian. May you live in peace this day, may your home be with God in Zion, with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, with Joseph, and all the angels, and saints.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…

Mary is not God

Non-Catholics are sometimes misled into believing that we worship Mary like we worship God. That is a misunderstanding and is not a Catholic teaching. Mary is not God but the Mother of God. She is no different from us human beings, a child of the first man and woman but was chosen by God to be the Mother of Jesus, specifically. For this, Mary bears no sin.

Mary was dedicated to God when she was a child and she vowed to remain always a virgin. She knew of the expected Messiah and like every holy maiden, she prayed for His coming. And one day, the angel Gabriel came with the news. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you…

We pay our respect, love and honor to Mary for her obedience to God's plan and became the Mother of God with a great faith in her heart. She who said "YES" to God so Jesus can be with us, who hunger and thirst for His words.

Mary is Blessed

We behold a glorious devotion to Mary with novenas in Her honor. She is the subject of inspiration in some artists and poems are written about Mary with so much passion. Some churches even dedicated Mary as patron saint. Why men and women of all ages venerate Her? Why all pay homage and generations call Her "Blessed"? The answer is because Mary, of all women who ever lived, was chosen by God to be the Mother of His Divine Son, Jesus Christ.

Mary is blessed. From birth, she was chosen to be part of God's plan destiny. A destiny she never could have imagine but willingly accepted. Her destiny - to be the Mother of Christ. She was free from sin, born exempted from original sin.

Many call her Blessed. She truly is blessed by God's love and shares with us all.

I love my Mother Mary.

Afflictions and temptations

Afflictions and temptations can be of great use to us at times for it makes us go back to God's love when we realized our weakness and faults. Those are the moments when we begin to examine ourselves and humbly admit that we own our decisions in doing so because we knew beforehand - it is wrong but I am in denial. The moment we question why we hurt Jesus, is a moment of understanding what we did was wrong, therefore, ask God's forgiveness and forgive oneself to move on with God's grace, correct the wrong though difficult it may be and never pass that path once more.
